Mindfulness |
Mindfulness is simply about paying attention, on purpose, to each particular moment.
Often, we are so busy with the usual life demands - work, family, school etc, that we miss much of what is happening to and around us. Mindfulness helps us see those moments and as a result become more aware of our own unique responses. It is these unique responses that sometimes create stress.
Practicing mindfulness is a way to manage our stress.
What is Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction?
Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is an eight week course designed to provide participants the opportunity to better understand and manage their stress, pain, challenging situations and difficult emotions. MBSR was specifically developed to teach and support self regulation and compassion. Course participants develop tools to recognize their particular stressors, recover more quickly from stress, and improve their focus and concentration.
Through practiced awareness participants will develop insight into their unique experiences, which in turn promotes healing and transformation.
Health care and behavioral health care professionals as well as caregivers will learn ways to recognize their own stress. They will also learn to support patients, clients and loved ones by teaching them to use their own internal resources.

During the course, we explore four types of meditation
This is a hands-on course, with group discussions, that offers the chance to “try them all on for size” and determine what supports your particular needs in various situations. Mediation practices may help you become less stress-reactive, improve coping, find balance, support medical needs and develop ease and peace of mind. |
